Water Slides Recalled After Death and Injuries

Banzai Splash water slides are being recalled after one death and two severe injuries occurred when the in-ground pool slide deflated.

After one death and two severe injuries, 21,000 Banzai Splash in-ground pool water slides are being recalled by Walmart, Toys”R”Us, and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The 6-ft. slides can deflate, causing users to crash into the edge of in-ground pools.

A 29-year-old Colorado mom died recently after she broke her neck when the slide deflated and she hit her head on the side of a concrete pool. A Springfield, Mo., man became a quadriplegic, and an Allentown, Pa., woman fractured her neck in similar incidents.

The recalled $250 slides were made in China and sold at Walmart and Toys”R”Us stores nationwide from January 2005 through June 2009.

If you own the slide, stop using it immediately and return the product to the nearest Walmart or Toys”R”Us store for a full refund.
