How often do you update your content? is the go-to, first stop for homeowners looking for timely information on all aspects of their home—improvement, maintenance, finance, insurance, taxes, and community. The site’s editors regularly add and update original content. In addition, the site offers news about housing, real estate, and homeownership.

What’s the best way to navigate the site?

You can easily find what you need any time you visit by entering keywords into the search field. Or if you’re browsing, just click on a category (Improve, Maintain, Engage, Taxes & Incentives, Finances & Insurance, or News & Activity) in our main navigation. Within each category, you can also filter content by “add value,” “save money,” “go green,” and “build community.” 

What if I want a copy of an old article?

Content will always be available via search, unless the information is dated or no longer applicable.

Why is my registered account going away?

On Wednesday, May 4 we are closing registered accounts in order to make room for new site features that will make it easier for you to find the information you’re looking for.  This will make HouseLogic easier to browse and locate the top-notch information you’ve come to rely on to maintain, protect and increase the value of your home.

What are the new site features?

We’re adding more space to fit more of our best how-to’s, DIY and money-saving tips, and home maintenance ideas with built-in expert tips and advice so you can make the best decisions at every stage of home ownership. You’ll also discover a fully responsive design so you can easily explore HouseLogic on your mobile phone and tablet. 

How do I get to my binder?

There’s a link to “Your Binder on the top right-hand side of the site if you’ve signed in. Alternatively, once you sign in (click “Sign In” in the upper right-hand corner of the site), you’ll see your personal dashboard in the blue footer. This dashboard includes a link to your binder, how many items you’ve saved to your binder, and your progress on various meters, such as saving money or adding value to your home.

How do I print articles that are in my binder?

In addition to printing articles directly from the article page itself, there are two ways you can print articles in your binder. 

1.To print a list of all articles in your binder, click on the print button located in the top right-hand side of your screen to print off a PDF copy.

2.To print individual articles, simply click on the article title in your binder, which will take you to the article, then click on the print button.

Will the to-do reminders and badges that I have in my binder go away?

Yes, all features within your binder will be removed.  

Will I still receive weekly emails from HouseLogic?

If you are signed up for weekly emails from HouseLogic, you will continue to receive emails. The account closure will not affect delivery of emails.

How do I sign in?

You can sign in to the site by clicking the “Sign In” link at the upper or lower right of the home page. Then, you’ll be prompted for your username and password, which are case sensitive. 

Are my sign-in credentials case sensitive?

Yes. Both your username and password are case sensitive.

How secure is my personal information?

We’re concerned about the confidentiality of your personal information and maintain security procedures and standards, which we believe make the site as safe as today’s technology reasonably permits. Our secure servers are protected by a firewall. We test and modify systems and procedures as new technologies become feasible. Unfortunately, no data transmission on the Internet is 100% secure; HouseLogic can’t warrant the security of information received from our site or the information you transmit to the site.

Do you share my information?

HouseLogic takes your privacy and your communications preferences very seriously. We won’t share or sell your email address or other personal information you provide us with third parties without your explicit consent. If necessary, we’ll release personal information if it is appropriate to a) comply with the legal process; b) identify, contact, or bring legal action against a party(ies) who cause (or we have a good-faith belief will cause) injury to HouseLogic, its employees, site users, or others; or c) otherwise protect the rights, property, or personal safety of HouseLogic, its employees, site users, or others. We use the information we collect about you to improve your experience with the site, such as by providing you with customized content selections. We may also contact you for promotional or other purposes.

If I update details about my house, will these updates be submitted to the government or public record?

No. We don’t share your information with third parties without your explicit consent. For additional information, please see our Privacy Policy.

If I have an article in my binder and it gets taken off the website, will I still be able to keep it?

Content generally is only removed when it’s no longer relevant or accurate. Yes, such items would be removed from your binder.

What is the Project Finder?

The Project Finder offers another way for you to locate content at the site that’s important to you. Find home projects based on the investment and level of effort you want to expend. To access the Project Finder, hover over the menu tabs “Improve” and “Maintain.” You’ll see a link to the Project Finder in each drop down list.

How do I change the email address associated with my account?

Once you’re logged in, click “My Profile” in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. In the Account Settings tab, simply change your email address and save. You can also update or add information about your home and about your homeownership experience, and sign up for newsletters and alerts in this section of the site.

What image formats does HouseLogic support?

You can upload .jpeg, .gif, and .png files to your HouseLogic profile.

How do I search for an article on the site?

Type keywords into the search field located at the upper right-hand side of any page or go to Browse by category — Improve, Maintain, Engage, Taxes & Incentives, Finances & Insurance, News & Activity — using the site navigation. Or use the Project Finder to locate home projects based on the investment and level of effort you want to expend.

Why can’t I leave a comment?

Leaving comments is a benefit of creating a HouseLogic account. If you’re not signed in, you can’t leave comments. In addition, comments with offensive words or phrases may be removed or banned. We appreciate your help monitoring for inappropriate and offensive comments. If you see a comment you believe is offensive, click the “flag” link next to the comment, which will alert HouseLogic staff.

Which browsers is HouseLogic compatible with?

Which browsers is HouseLogic compatible with?  HouseLogic is best accessed with one of the following web browsers: • Mozilla/Firefox 15.0 or newer • Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0 or newer • Safari 6.0 or newer (Macintosh) Disabling browser functions such as JavaScript, cookies, or SSL may cause certain functionality to be unavailable. 

Do I need any additional software to use HouseLogic?

Some articles have additional content associated with them as PDF files. You can download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

What are cookies and do I need to enable them?

Cookies help establish a user session and allow our server to correctly provide you with the appropriate information and services. We also use cookies to ensure you obtain the information you request and to authenticate your authority to access the site. We also use cookies to track the site usage in order to improve your experience. 

Can I cancel my account?

Sure. Just send an email to requesting cancellation of your account. Your request will take approximately 48 hours to process.
