The site’s editors regularly add and update original content. In addition, the site offers news about housing, real estate, and homeownership.
You can easily find what you need any time you visit by entering keywords into the search field. Or if you’re browsing, just click on a category (Improve, Maintain, Engage, Taxes & Incentives, Finances & Insurance, or News & Activity) in our main navigation. Within each category, you can also filter content by “add value,” “save money,” “go green,” and “build community.” We recommend you create a profile so that you can save the articles and to-dos you find to your personal binder.
Content will always be available via search, unless the information is dated or no longer applicable. If you see an article that interests you or if you think it will in the future, save it to your binder, where you can retrieve it at any time.
There’s a link to “Your Binder on the top right-hand side of the site if you’ve signed in. Alternatively, once you sign in (click “Sign In” in the upper right-hand corner of the site), you’ll see your personal dashboard in the blue footer. This dashboard includes a link to your binder, how many items you’ve saved to your binder, and your progress on various meters, such as saving money or adding value to your home.
Content generally is only removed when it’s no longer relevant or accurate. Yes, such items would be removed from your binder.
If you’re logged in, you can take a quick, two-question quiz to test your recall of key concepts discussed in the article. You earn points for correct answers, which accrue to your knowledge meter. Keep track of your knowledge points in your binder and in your personal site footer.
Just click “Sign Up” in any of three places: at the upper right-hand corner of your screen, in the center of the home page, or in the blue footer bar. In each case, you’ll be prompted to complete a simple three-step process to create your personal profile.

Nope. It’s completely free. You can access all content at the site whether or not you’re a registered user. However, if you do create an account, you can access features on the site not available to unregistered users. For instance, you can earn points toward badges as well as save articles and to-dos in your personal binder. You’ll also be able to leave comments.
Once you’ve established an account, sign in to the site on subsequent visits by clicking the “Sign In” link at the upper or lower right of the home page. Then, you’ll be prompted for your username and password, which are case sensitive.
When the system logs you in, you’ll be returned to the home page, which will now feature your own personal footer. Consider this footer a dashboard, where you can track your progress in various areas: saving money, adding value to your home, and earning knowledge, green, and community points. The dashboard also keeps track of how many items you have in your binder. Simply save the articles important to you to your binder by dragging them to the footer. (Or click the “Add to Binder” button associated with each article or to-do.) Expand the footer to see more detail about your progress.
Yes. Both your username and password are case sensitive.
Once you’re logged in, click “My Profile” in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. In the Account Settings tab, simply change your email address and save. You can also update or add information about your home and about your homeownership experience, and sign up for newsletters and alerts in this section of the site.

If you choose not to accept our cookies, you can’t sign in to the site as a registered user to use the binder, participate in polls, post comments, and take quizzes.
