Thanks to all of you who entered our “aging in place” contest to coin a new catchphrase for the practical and convenient home features that allow people of all ages and abilities to live in their homes more easily and longer.

“Aging in place” and “universal design,” the industry term, are such a turn-off to some home buyers that many builders say they’ve resorted to euphemism to describe accommodations like wider doorways, shower seats, and lever-style door handles.

The renaming submissions are listed below. You may vote once for one single name in the comments section of this post by Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. Only one vote per user will be counted. (Read the contest rules.) We’ll tally the votes and announce the winner of the $50 gift card next week.

Here’s hoping the winning name enters the home-building lexicon!
