Ellen DeGeneres Downsizing to Brad Pitt’s Malibu Home

Tiny is relative. But by La-La land standards, celebrity Ellen DeGeneres is drastically downsizing by buying Brad Pitt’s cozy (!?) beach house.

We’ve been all over the “tiny house” movement where regular folks downsize to itsy-bitsy homes. There’s even one tiny home as small as 89 sq. ft. But it now looks like talk show host/comic Ellen DeGeneres is jumping on the tiny (by Hollywood standards) bandwagon and exchanging her 15,000 sq. ft. Beverly Hills compound for Brad Pitt’s teeny-weeny 4,088 sq. ft. Malibu beach house.

DeGeneres recently bought Pitt’s 4-bed 4-bath home for $12 million — it was listed in June for $13.75 million. The mid-century modern home features sustainable bamboo flooring, walls of glass for 12/7 ocean views, three fireplaces, and a security system.

We’re guessing that DeGeneres and wife, actress Portia De Rossi, will do some major decluttering before they move from their current Beverly Hills estate, once featured in Architectural Digest. The $49 million compound includes a 9,200-sq.-ft. main house, a couple of guest houses, and a separate office.

Our advice (not that Ellen asked): Tackle one room a day. What you don’t love and use, toss.

Have you ever drastically downsized? How did you pare down your stuff?
