CPSC Recalls 460,000 Air Compressors That Pose Fire Hazard

Almost a half million air compressors are being recalled because overheating motors pose a fire hazard.

About 460,000 DeVilbiss air compressors are being recalled because their motors can overheat and cause a fire.

The compressors were marketed under the Craftsman, EX-CELL, Porter-Cable, and Pro-Air II brand names. Recalled Craftsman-brand compressors were sold at Sears stores nationwide from July 2004 through December 2008 for between $279 and $329. The other compressors were sold by construction distributors for between $259 and $299.

If you own a recalled compressor, unplug it immediately and contact DeVilbiss Air Power Co. or Sears for a free repair kit.
