The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling 520,000 Mr. Coffee Single Cup Brewing Systems because built-up steam can force open the brewing chamber and expel hot coffee grounds and water, posing a burn hazard.

Importers Jarden Consumer Solutions (JCS) has received 164 reports of the coffee machine’s brewing chamber opening due to steam pressure; 59 reports were of burn injuries to the face, upper torso, and hands.

The Mr. Coffee recalled systems were sold nationwide from September 2010 through August 2012 for between $60 and $80. If you own a recalled machine, stop using it immediately and contact JCS for a free replacement unit.
