The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling 7,700 Powermate Sx 5500 portable generators that pose a fire hazard. Some generators have cracked gas filters that allow gasoline to leak.

The generators are imported from China by Pramac America LLC, which has received 51 reports of gasoline leaks, although no fires or injuries have showed up.

The Powermate 5500 was sold exclusively at Home Depot stores in the northeast, midwest, and southeast U.S. from February 2012 through August 2012 for about $550.

If you own a recalled generator, stop using it and contact Pramac America to receive a free repair kit that contains a replacement filter, hose, and hose clamps for the fuel line.
