  • For $75,000, you’ll definitely make a big splash in your bathroom with this crystal-studded commode. But for a mere $200-$1,000, you won’t take a back seat to anybody with a high-efficiency, low-flow toilet that shaves $90 per year off your water bill and sends 4,000 fewer gallons of water down the drain.

  • Stroll around this glamorous walk-in closet and you’ll need to rest a bit on your padded chaise lounge — there’s a lot of ground to cover. You own closet might not have Park Avenue glam, but for $1,500-$5,000 you can equip an 8-by-10-foot walk-in master closet with all the shelves, cubbies, and clothes poles you’ll need.

  • Stash your valuables in here — if you dare. Thieves might be tempted to take the entire gold-plated, $32,000 safe. You can thwart burglars for a whole lot less: A reliable home security system costs $200-$700, with a $75/month monitoring fee. Some home insurance providers will even reduce the cost of your premiums if you have an electronic security system.

  • Thinking of remodeling your basement so the kids have a place to play? Install a bowling alley ($150,000) with comfy seating and lots of TVs, and you might not ever see them again. Good news: Remodeling Magazine’s 2014 Cost vs Value Report says the average cost of a basement remodel is only $62,834. For that you get a 600 sq. ft. renovation that includes a wet bar and a full bath.

  • Carved from a single, 10-ton block of white crystal, this one-of-a-kind tub will bathe you in luxury — if you can afford the $850,000 price. If you crave the pampering but not the cost, try a fiberglass steam shower. For less than $5,000, you’ll get a generous 6-by-3-foot steam shower enclosure that’ll soothe your soul without draining your pocketbook.
