Kenmore Dehumidifiers Recalled: Fire Hazard Caused $7 Million in Property Damage

Almost 800,000 Kenmore dehumidifiers sold at Sears and Kmart stores are being recalled because they can overheat, smoke, melt, and catch on fire.

More than $7 million in property damage and three cases of smoke inhalation injuries have been linked to the faulty dehumidifiers, manufactured in China.

The dehumidifiers were sold exclusively at Sears and Kmart stores nationwide and online from 2003 to 2009 for between $140 and $220.

If you own a recalled dehumidifier, which are meant to prevent mold and prevent water damage, unplug it and contact Sears for a gift card for between $75 and $100.
